you know what? i love the ball point pen. its really one of my New favorite Mediums of drawing... New meaning in the last year or so... but still i have learned that drawing with pen is a good healthy thing to do for people who would say they aren't SKILLED at drawing. you see the thing with Lead pencils and even Digital art, is that you have either an eraser or Ctl+Z so it gives you this feeling of security. you feel that if you make a mistake you can go back. and if you don't get that hand just right erase... still not right? erase... OH what? still not good enough for you? DELETED! but with Ink, marker, Ball point pen, or any other writing tool that is pertinent that I'm not naming. there is no going back, unless you want to ugly it up with white out... anyway to me with the knowledge that there's no such thing as going back it gives me a reason to commit and not be scared of the drawing more. it makes me feel like "whatever" and accept the mistakes as part of the Charm of the drawing itself. the soul so to speak.
to me drawing (cartoons at least) is like singing, if you are afraid of your own voice you will never be a good singer, and if you are afraid of the paper and Pen or even pencil your drawings will always turn out ridged and lifeless. Spill that Ink onto the page like a Singer spills their soul to an audience.
